The name The Blue Man comes from the Saharan desert nomads called Tuaregs. The indigo dye used on their robes literally stains their skin blue – as a result, they are called 'L'homme bleu'.
Culturally – a people mixed from distant relatives of Egyptians and Moroccans – they travel through Algeria, Southern Morocco, North of Niger, Mauritiana, Mali and Libya. They are not Arabs, but Berbers, and have their own language and alphabet.
Due to the intense heat of the day Berbers tend to travel at night, navigating by the stars. As they settle to make camp someone will make Taguella – bread made with millet flour, semolina flour, or maize flour and baked in the sand – you will be pleased to know that our bread is not the sandy version! The bread is used to mop up the main dish which is have been prepared from local sources. Bread is considered Allah's most precious gift and must be treated with respect – at dinner it is customary for the host to break bread for their family and guests and offer a piece to each.
We will be serving you some complimentary appetisers while you look through the menu so take your time choosing, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please also advise us if of any allergies.
B'saha Alikum. Good health to you.
